CNOOC to Recycle and Utilize CO₂ from China's First Large-Scale Natural Gas Field

Release Date:2013-09-18

Commissioned by CNOOC (China) Limited and Superaccurate Energy Services International Limited of the United Kingdom, our company completed the preparation of the *Market Research Report on By-product CO₂ from the Lishui 36-1 Gas Field* and the *Study on CO₂ Utilization Plans for the Lishui 36-1 Gas Field* in 2009.

The Lishui 36-1 Gas Field project is an offshore oil and gas field project jointly developed by CNOOC (China) Co., Ltd. and Superaccurate Energy Services International Ltd. of the United Kingdom. currently has proven and probable reserves totaling 6.332 billion m³, with an estimated production life of 16 years, including a 7-year peak steady-state production period. Annual production of mixed gas is 420 million m³, of which hydrocarbon gases account for 64% (approximately 300 million m³, with natural gas comprising 54.94%); carbon dioxide accounts for 32.7% (approximately 140 million m³), and nitrogen accounts for 3.3%.

The project has now entered the rolling development phase. Through the recovery of carbon dioxide gas, it can directly improve the environment and enhance the health of local residents, while also enabling comprehensive utilization to turn waste into valuable resources, benefiting both the nation and its people.

In addition, our company is also responsible for researching the recovery and utilization plan for CNOOC’s Southwest Sea One Million Ton Carbon Dioxide Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Project. The annual production capacity of the carbon dioxide recovery facility to be constructed under this project is 600,000 tons, with Phase I having a capacity of 300,000 tons.
